Ford Shuns US Bailout of Auto Industry
The New York Times reports that Ford US is shunning the bailout package that GM and CHrysler have pleaded to receive from the US Government.
Ford are in a much stronger position that both GM and Chrysler because they have more cash on hand (US$18.9 billion Ford versus US$16.2 billion GM) and organised over US$10 billion worth of credit from the bank in 2006. This puts them in a much stronger position than their cross town rivals. Analysts suggest this may have an impact in the market when consumers realise that the people in charge of Ford are not as stupid as the peanuts in charge of GM or Chrysler.
Go the Ford (management)!
