We reported last month of drastic job cuts involving the US Ford outpost in wake of slow sales and a dwindling market share, now Ford’s Spokeswoman Marcey Evans has gone on record stating that job cuts aren’t just limited to North America and will involve looking at their Asian operations as well.

Ford need to trim back 15% of their salaried costs in their North American operations by the time August 1st rolls around, leaving workers full of anger and without a job.

Shell has announced they will be phasing out supply of their V-power Racing 100 octane fuels from the end of July ’08. The ethanol blended performance fuel was only available at few selected Shell service stations so it comes as very little surprise the expensive mix be phased out and replaced with more E10 blended fuels.

No changes will be made to the current V-power 98RON fuels which have been popular with performance car enthusiasts driving vehicles such as the SS Commodore and XR8 and XR6T Falcons.

Posted: 08.07.2008 12:02

Vehicle theft is a pretty serious problem here in Australia and anyone who has ever had a car stolen by a half-wit thief can attest to the stress it can cause for months after it’s gone.

Hyundai, of all car manufacturers, has developed a new tamper proof compliance plate that stops thieves from removing the plate without destroying it completely. The aim to stop vehicle re-birthing by swapping over compliance plates of from that of stolen cars to ensure re-registration.

“Improved vehicle identification is a major focus of the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council” said Mr. McDonald, “vehicle identification technology such as self-voiding labels, cost less than $2 and are one of the best defenses against professional car theft – a problem which costs the Australian community $250 million every year,” said NRMA Head of Research Robert McDonald.
