Let’s face it, burnouts are not only fun to do but they also make a great spectator sport which is why all you Brisbane readers should get down to the Brisbane International Speedway this weekend for the running of Australia’s richest burnout competition.

It’s the second running of the No Mrcy Elite Pro Street Burnout competition that promises to be even bigger and better than last years. Entrants are by invitation only, so you can be assured that each burnout is going to be a killer.

Gates open from 3.00pm with burnouts starting at 5.00pm going right through to late. Prices start from $15 student entry, adults $20 with family passes from $60.

Springnats is always one event on the Victorian calendar that attracts one hell of a crowd, and the 2007 15th running of the event was certainly no different. Featuring tons of top quality street cars all giving them hell in a wide variety of driving events that let the rubber fly.

This year proved a little different from Springnats of past with the debut of a new TV show, Blood Sweat and Gear, kicking off and running throughout the Springnats festivities.

Springnats has always been more about driving your car rather than parking it, so there is little surprise that the skid pan was the place to be for spectators wanting to get a quick hit of tyre frying action.

That’s right! The mega-popular BBC automotive television show is heading downunder to Aussie TV screens everywhere.

Before you ask, no. There is no Clarkson, with the Australian hosts yet to be announced but you can be assure that there will be an absence of British accent.

SBS Director of content said he is very excited to have the chance to follow in BBC’s massive footsteps.
"In making it we won't simply replicate the UK series with an Australian version of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond or James May," he said.
"SBS plans to make a program that is uniquely and quintessentially Australian.
Top Gear is a unique show and one of the BBC Worldwide's biggest global properties."
A release date for the series is yet to be announced.

Ok all you Victorians out there, you had better get along to Shepparton over the weekend and bask in all the rev-head glory that is Springnats! The Express Motoring Group will be there in a big way, promoting their various automotive magazine titles as well as the new TV motoring series Blood, Sweat and Gears.

Jam packed full of entertainment, Springnats will contain the usual events seen through out most motor shows which include the spear-a-spud, burnout competition and drifting and driving displays. Entrants will also get the chance to compete in racing grudge matches, pitting mate against mate in a half track rubber fest.
