We know it’s a Subaru, but this is one video that is a must see for all those petrol heads out there that occasionally set their browser to YouTube.
Subaru WRC driver Barry Johnson was taken to hospital following this rough landing in what was later revealed to have crushed three of his vertebrae in his lower back.
The Subaru has reached an estimated 3.6 meters in the air while travelling some 60 meters on the ground, possibly setting a new world record.
When asked about the jump, driver Johnson said “Then all the shockers burst when we landed so the oil came out of the car and it went on fire" said Johnson. "But this hasn't put me off my rallying. I'm going for some massage soon and hoping to feel a lot better in a few weeks.
"We've also sent someone to measure how far we actually did jump in case we've set a record. We're sure we're not that far off it. It was certainly a long jump.
“I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I wasn't having a good run, so we were on a bit of a push. We hit the rev limiter just before the jump, probably at around 137mph.”
Do yourself a favour and click the video link, it only lasts about 6 seconds but it is well worth it.
