Category: On the Street

Anybody who went along to MotorEx last year would just how massive the show is, and the level of cars that are on display. Held under the one roof are Australia’s most prestige show cars that cater for just about all levels of taste.

Still not sure what we mean? Check out this YouTube preview that will give you an insight into the world of MotorEx and be sure to grab a camera, grab some mates and head down to the Sydney Show grounds this weekend to see what all the fuss is about.

The Cops and Community Car Show

Category: On the Street
Posted: 01.07.2008 15:37

Run by the Lake Illawarra Highway Patrol, The 2nd Annual Cops and Community Car Show will be held once again at the Kembla Grange Race Course and will be bigger and better than even the first year’s awesome show.

The event incorporates a massive variety of vehicles on display ranging from dedicated drag racing equipment and pro street style cars right the way through to classic US and Aussie muscle cars, custom bikes, hot rods and even some late model high tech stuff for the young and the young at heart.

The show also sees a large selection of traders, Police, Fire and Rescue vehicles as well as demonstrations and displays of some state of the art equipment used by these departments every day. The focus for The Cops and Community Car Show is on responsible road use with L and P plate drivers especially encouraged to attend.

A massive list of trophies and prizes are there for the taking so clear your calendar for the 26th of October and head to Kembla Grange Race Course. Last year’s event was an amazing demonstration of how the Police and the modified car community should get along so show your support for this initiative by coming along or even entering your car.

All monies raised go to charity and it’s just $25 to enter your car ($30 on the day). For more information, contact Snr Constable Kristy Avnell on 0421 789 600.

Thieves target classic muscle cars

Category: On the Street

Car thieves are scum of the earth and its one thing that I would love to see and that’s compulsory castration for any convicted car thief, and that’s just for starters. Anyway, it seems thieves are getting a little more exotic in their tastes and as outlined in this NINEMSN video, are target the likes of classic Aussie muscle such as GT Falcons and GTS Monaros. Such classics are irreplaceable and become quite worthless here in Oz, but Police believe that the big-dollar classics could be heading overseas where collectors are paying large.

A warning for all those holding classics such as older GT Falcons, Monaros, Toranas, Mustangs and even Brock Commodores, chuck an extra lock on the shed and make sure you have that baseball bat on stand by to sink into the skulls of would be car thieves.

Drivers changing style to save fuel

Category: On the Street

A recent survey has shown that 42 percent of drivers have adjusted their style of driving in a bid to stretch the distance to empty out as far as humanly possible. Gone of the days of random rev-limiter checks and traffic light rallies, drivers are now easing of the loud pedal to save the heartache come fuel-light time which AAMI public affairs manager Geoff Hughes says is great idea.

Just by changing the way they drive, motorists can reduce their fuel consumption and therefore their impact on the environment by as much as 20 per cent," says Geoff.

Simple concepts such as easing off from the lights and not exceeding the speed limit can have a drastic amount to exactly how much those injectors will be working.
